The National Football League Draft is one of those days that teams never lose, they only pick up players.
And while there may be debate about the picks of each team, fans generally find enough cause for optimism in the picks that the days basically carry a celebratory mood.
It still amazes me that one of my friends loyally watches the entire draft broadcast. I’m not as hardcore, tending to pay attention to the picks of my favorite team, the Cincinnati Bengals. I also like reading about those picks on the Bengals web site. I also enjoy reading about the draft in general through NFL.com and ESPN.com.
No other league seems to generate this much interest with its draft, although the National Basketball Association has made strides.
I suspect the popularity of fantasy football has worked hand in hand to build interest in the NFL Draft. Sure the NFL starts with an advantage in popularity but its many events only add to its position of strength.
I’m sure every team and league is busy trying to create similar interest in such events, especially in the off-season.
