Sports Executives More Optimistic in April

From , Former About.com GuideMay 10, 2009

If you’re tired of hearing bad news about the economy and perhaps are finding the job market difficult, the April Turnkey Sports Poll provided some good news.

Of the senior-level executives and owners who participated in the poll, 81.6% said they are optimistic about the next 12 months of the sports industry. That percentage marks a jump of more than 22% compared to the March poll.

In the graphic (sorry it's kind of small), the green line represents optimistic responses while the red line represents pessimistic responses. The April results have not yet been added but the green line will be soaring after several flat months.

The poll does not provide much explanation, but I suspect sports executives have a better idea than in recent months about how their sports will move forward. Also, the economy has shown some signs that it has reached bottom.

The percentage of poll participants who responded with optimism is the highest for the monthly poll since June 2008.
