After practicing as a lawyer for six years and representing players as an agent, Peter Chiarelli has moved to the top of the list of National Hockey League general managers.
The Sporting News recently named Charelli its NHL Executive of the Year. One of the reasons for Chiarelli’s success? His 2007 hiring of coach Claude Julien who was named coach of the year by the magazine.
Along with his legal experience and time working with players as an agent, Chiarelli also has the added benefit of playing hockey at a high level. He played at Harvard University and even served as captain of the Crimson.
While the profiles on this site show varied backgrounds for team executives, Chiarelli’s profile displays how he used his legal background to find success.
