Interesting Time to Watch Baseball

From Frank Angst, About.com GuideAugust 30, 2009

If you’re interested in a career as a front-office executive with a baseball team, or any professional sports team for that matter, I think this is an interesting time of year to track baseball transactions.

For teams that are in the pennant race, it’s interesting to see the final transactions they make in order to prepare for the postseason.

But perhaps more interesting are the teams that have lost all chance of competing for the playoffs this year. These teams will bring up various young players to help evaluate their skill levels against major-league competition.

Teams also have to make decisions on how they will handle injuries. In working with team medical directors and the players, decisions have to be made on how the injuries will be treated. Many times, players' seasons are shut down to allow more recovery time for next season following a surgery.
