Sports information directors enjoy work

From Frank Angst, About.com GuideAugust 3, 2009

As a sports writer, I have met and worked with many sports information directors through the years. And while I know they typically face long hours and many responsibilities, it’s rare to find one in an extended bad mood.

Sure, they may tire at the end of a long day but most times they have a bounce in their step and a smile on their face. I suppose it’s the opportunity to spend so much time around sports. I think when the hours get long, they realize there are worse ways to make a living than attending sporting events and reporting on those teams.

I thought about those SIDs as I wrote up a career profile on sports information directors.
