Roger Goodell became the ninth commissioner of the NFL in August 2006. Goodell brings a business mind to the position after serving as president of NFL Ventures, which includes the NFLs business units, media properties, marketing, sales, and international development. Goodell, through the use of suspensions when necessary, has demanded good off-field behavior from players.
